Back in Black Blog

Editor's note: readers are advised to click on the link below to add dramatic effect to the reading of what could otherwise be a slightly tedious blapology.

Dear reader(s?),

Sorry I haven't written
. And thank you for your threatening comments, derisive posts, and not-so-delicate jabs to the ribs.

All this seems to have worked, in combination with the shame I experienced last week in seeing Daniel Rose point and whisper the following to one of his customers:

"Oh her? She's a blogger. Well, not really anymore..."

That was followed a few days later by an encounter at Hidden Kitchen in which a group of strangers were talking about blogs. A young American girl was describing her exciting (ahem) Myspace blog to the foodie superheros Dorie Greenspan and David Lebovitz.

I couldn't bring myself to mention that I too had a blog, and thus sat silently in a spiral of self-flagellation until revived by a very nice fish taco.

And thus I realized, even before Moonke threatened to cut me off, that I should really get back in the swing of things.

So thanks for sticking around. I'll be back with a story or two real soon.

xo

Yeah, seriously. You have to put those myspacers in their place.

Geesh, Meg, even if you haven't blogged in awhile, you always seem to be in the loop on the coolest things! How do you do it? Finger on the pulse and all...

I want to attend a Hidden Kitchen dinner -- but do you think it's entirely out of my budget? Reassure me here, dear. (Can you tell that I am green with envy? You must hold some kind of magical blogger power over us still...)

My own excuse is that the average blog quality of THE WORLD is improved when I don't post. You can't get away with that one :)

I'm still checking your blog every day. It's a sweet, sweet ray of light to find a new treat there...

P.S. ~ I wondered what had happened to you... But then I figured you might have made off with King Negrito or somethin'.

although I feel a more scalding comment is in order here, when it comes to le meg, I generally find I suffer from battered fan syndromme. so it's all forgiven, darling. come 'ere... x

Is blogging about the fact you haven't blogged in a while but that plan to do so shortly really blogging ?

I'm just asking...

Fish Taco? Was it good? I ask because I've heard from a couple of Merkins living in Provence that the worst thing about France is you can't buy a decent tortilla (or Cocoa Puffs but that's off my point). Very subjective but those of us raised west of the Rockies love us some Mexican food.

Well, you were just... ummm... washing your hair, right? Or were you just recovering from the Blognic? ;-0 Nice to see you back (and between you and me, I don't get the whole Myspace craze. But then again, I didn't get blogging at first, either. NOW look at me.)

Garrincha seems to be the only one not lulled into forgiveness by AC/CD. Go back and hit "repeat" on the song, Alex.

Franca Bollo raises a good point: good tortillas are non-existent here. So Laura from Hidden Kitchen rolls her own. The fish taco was great, even thought they (like most who prepare "ethnic" food for a french clientele) were conservative with the chile.

Bloomer: I dunno what your budget is, but HK is 60 euros per person, with 10 courses and all wine (and apero) included. At restos with a 30 euro menu, you'll spend 40 if you drink moderately and 50 per person if the wine is flowing freely over 4+ hours. So HK is still more expensive than a good moderately-priced bistro. But for special occassions (or if money is no worry) it's fun.

Eek! Blogger is talking to me in Portuguese. How very confusing.

I'm with garrincha. An apology post does not equal a blog post.

Pull your finger out of your arse and write us a story involving sex toys, chewing tobacco or, at the very least, sauerkraut.

AC/DC usually lulles me into smashing furnitures (or my own poor head) against the walls, not forgiveness.
