In the Buttes

I lay down today in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont and thought seriously about never leaving.

With the dog wandering nearby, I stretched my arms above my head and twirled the damp grass between my fingers. Tiny papers fell eratically from a canopy of yellow and black. Beyond it, white clouds raced across a blue sky.

I put my headphones on and was swollen by a song. Mirth appeared above me, having abandoned her grass-eating for a moment. I stroked her soft fur with my eyes closed and thought about that line from American Beauty - "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."

And then the dog threw up in my hair.

Nice! Is dog throw up better or worse to clean up than bird poop?

Oh dear...

I suppose the only thing to do is to be grateful to your dear pooch for saving your heart. She must have sensed your mood and needed to bring you around in the best way she knew...Gack.

Welcome back.

Meilleurs vœux!

Thank you for sharing that.

My wet patch seems so much more appealing now.

You did a great job writing the intro. I was totally engrossed--and then just like my cat having a hairball the the dog threw up in your hair!!!! Thank you for the early morning laugh.

Very funny post! I was totally drawn in by the flowery prose and then came the punchline.

Reminds me of a time when my dog had a very soft runny poo accident from getting in the trash and eating what was left over from my mexican takeout. In the middle of the night no less.

All I kept repeating outloud for him to hear was, "This is SO NOT GLAMOROUS!" I think he got the point.

Meg, found you via Petite's blog. Very amusing prose, a great adjunct to Petite's musing. I am now addicted to regular doses of both blogs.

More of Mirth, less of her vomit, please!
